The W114/W115 series was Daimler-Benz’s upper-midrange vehicle, produced between 1968 and 1976. Today, this model is most closely associated with the E-Class, as the German manufacturer positioned it below the “Sonderklasse” and other luxury models. Although it was specifically designed as an executive car, it was available not only as a sedan and coupé but also as a long-wheelbase (LWB) limousine. Regarding engine options, six-cylinder models were designated as W114, while four-cylinder versions were W115. The series achieved remarkable popularity among buyers, selling more than three times as many units as its predecessor, the “Fintail” W110. Its appeal stemmed from its durability, high expected mileage, and ensured comfort at a comparatively lower price. A perfect example of its indestructible, high-quality design is Gregorios Sachinidis’ 1976 240 D taxi, which was gifted to the Mercedes Stuttgart Museum in 2004 with 4.6 million kilometers on the odometer. The model received a facelift in 1973, featuring a lower hood line, wider grille, and lower-mounted headlights. The W114/W115 series was succeeded by the W123 in 1976. The exhibited model is a 1975 W114, six-cylinder-model Mercedes-Benz 280. It is powered by a 2.7-liter inline-six engine, producing 126 hp and 226 Nm of torque. The car is in stock condition, requires no bodywork or paint repairs. All interior components and surfaces are intact and in perfect condition. Mechanically, the vehicle is flawless—no repairs are required. The gearbox shifts smoothly and quietly, the engine emits no blue or white smoke, and there is no rust present. The car is fitted with period-correct KBA40383 wheels, paired with white-striped tires, which complement the light-colored paintwork beautifully. It is left-hand drive, automatic transmission, petrol-powered, and rear-wheel drive. The interior features light brown leather upholstery, with wood inlays on the dashboard.
